Early in 2016 we attended our mastering session with Matt Colton for BK014. When Matt heard Orson Wells’ original track, Blend, he remarked that it sounded like the kind of track you’d have heard blasting out of a Ford Fiesta XR2 in a field the morning after a rave in the early 90’s.’ To extenuate the sound of vibrating plastic speaker grills he then applied what we shall now call the ‘XR2 EQ curve’ (!) to the track for maximum effect.
Based on this we decided to scrap the plans for the original artwork and briefed our designers (Spencer Fenton) with the above info. Their design system abstracted from the forms found in car liveries with each EP featuring a unique composition and combination of stickers. These sleeves accompany all BK14 12”s distributed to record stores around the globe.
We have now decided to take this concept one step further and offer you a limited edition one off sleeve. Pictured are 16 ‘one-off’ editions of Bokhari 14. Each one is numbered so we advise you act fast to avoid disappointment.
